Anniversary(?)

I was not here for the last anniversary so I am don't know what happens. Can anyone tell me what happens on the anniversary? Are there perks? Anything to work towards for rewards? Any freebies? Everyone is building it up and I am getting excited about it but have little information. Thanks.
